Students face debt, but use multiple methods to pay tuition
A significant number of college students – 39% -- say they currently have no student debt facing them upon graduation. Although student debt tends to increase with the years of school attended, it’s interesting to note that the difference in debt between first-year and later-year students isn’t extreme. While 46% of first-year students say they have no debt, 30% of fourth-year and 39% of graduate students also report they face no financial burden upon graduation.

Price, service, and discounts guide student shopping behaviors
Mass market retailers, like Walmart and Target, remain the most popular shopping destinations among college students, with 87% indicating they shop at discount stores at least once a month, and 24% shopping there on a weekly basis. This is followed closely by grocery stores with 83% visiting them at least once a month.

Shopping with mobile devices increases, but mobile payments are still rare
Higher education students are definitely connected to their mobile devices—smartphones, tablets, and eReaders – and use them every day for multiple reasons. Nearly all students (97%) own a smartphone, and 96% use it daily to send text messages. Eighty-nine percent use it daily to access email, and 87% to search the internet. On average, students spend about 5.23 hours a day using their phones.

Students Say Fitness Matters: Creative Ways Stores Can Support Them
Students say healthy living -- especially fitness -- is very important to them. In a recent OnCampus Research survey of 14,000 higher ed students, 61% of students say they work out at least once a week, but only 15% are satisfied with their current level of activity. “Working out more often” topped the list of New Year’s resolutions, too.
